🔹 Game Rules
All SEHAL games follow National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules:
32-minute games (4 x 8-minute quarters)
5-minute overtime periods
Disqualification after 5 personal fouls
Official SEHAL game ball and equipment required
Bench decorum and coaching conduct strictly enforced
🔹 Uniform Requirements
All teams must wear NFHS-compliant uniforms:
Legal jersey numbers
Matching home and away kits
Visible number contrast (light/dark)
Full compliance with safety and design standards
🔹 Game Ball
Only league-approved basketballs may be used
Game balls distributed before each season
🔹 Team Registration & Fees
Annual Registration with SEHAL League Office required
Participation Fee: ______ per team (due August 10)
No installment plans, refunds, or transfers
🔹 Roster Submission & Eligibility
Rosters due by September 1 each year, including:
Full name, date of birth, grade level
Verified academic eligibility (transcript required)
Photo ID or school ID with DOB
Roster Lock: No additions after deadline (max 2 allowed with league approval)
Player Requirements:
Enrolled in accredited educational program
On track for high school graduation
Transfers require written release + league approval
🔹 Recruitment Regulations
Strictly Prohibited:
Contacting/recruiting players from other SEHAL/TCAL teams
Offering incentives or scholarships to in-league players
Penalties:
1st Offense: Written warning + $500 fine
2nd Offense: One-year probation
3rd Offense: Expulsion from SEHAL
🔹 League Game Participation
Mandatory attendance for all scheduled games
48-hour notice required for emergencies (documentation required)
No-shows/forfeits without cause:
Fine up to $2,500
Loss of playoff eligibility
Legal recourse and compensation claims possible
🔹 League Schedule
Finalized annually by August 10
Games played on SEHAL-designated weekends: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays
🔹 Overtime Rules
5-minute OT period
1 timeout per team in OT
Disqualification after 5 personal fouls
NFHS rules apply unless otherwise stated
🔹 Playoff Eligibility
Only SEHAL-sanctioned games count toward league standings
Non-league play encouraged for exposure
Strength of schedule + record considered in playoff seeding
